Clear quartz is the backbone of any crystal collection, and it is also the family where the surprises live. This is our largest and most varied collection, gathered piece by piece over years of buying directly from miners and long-time collectors. Some of it is textbook clarity; much of it is stranger and better than that, full of phantoms, inclusions, self-healed faces and growth records you can read with your eyes.

What Clear Quartz Is

Quartz is silicon dioxide, the second most abundant mineral in the earth's continental crust, crystallizing in the trigonal system as six-sided prisms capped by rhombohedral faces. It measures 7 on the Mohs scale, has no cleavage, and breaks with a conchoidal fracture. Quartz is piezoelectric, which is why it became essential to timekeeping and electronics. It grows in hydrothermal veins, pegmatites and cavities worldwide, and different localities carry recognizable personalities: the clarity of Arkansas crystal, the size and luster of Brazilian points, the chlorite-included and often double-terminated crystals of the Himalaya, and the short, water-clear, doubly terminated quartz of Herkimer County, New York. Inclusions of rutile, chlorite, hematite and other minerals are common and are part of what makes each specimen distinct.

Clear Quartz Meaning and Metaphysical Properties

Clear quartz is traditionally called the master stone, described in crystal practice as amplifying intention and working well alongside every other mineral. It is generally associated with the crown chakra, though many practitioners treat it as adaptable to any of them.

Many people work with clear quartz as a programmable stone, holding it while setting an intention and returning to it as a reminder. Phantom crystals are traditionally linked to growth and to honoring the past, while self-healed crystals are often used in practices around repair and resilience.

How to Use Clear Quartz

• Hold a single terminated point during meditation, with the tip toward you to draw in or away to release.
• Use clear quartz points as the directional stones in a grid built around any other central crystal.
• Keep a cluster in a shared space, where it functions as a gathering point for the room.
• Pair it with almost anything, since it is traditionally said to strengthen the qualities of the stones around it.
